Your payout account is where we send your money. What you can add depends on where you are: We never pay out in US dollars. Your balance is tracked in USD, and each payout is converted to your local currency at the exchange rate on the day we send it.

Before you start

  • Verify your identity first. The organization owner must be verified before a payout account can be added.
  • Bank and mobile money accounts must be in your own name. We only pay out to accounts in your own verified legal name. Accounts in someone else’s name, or a friend’s or family member’s wallet, won’t work.
  • It must be in Africa. The bank or mobile money wallet must be in an African country.

Add a payout account

1

Open payout settings

Go to Finance > Payouts (or Finance > Account) in your dashboard.
2

Choose your country

The kinds of payout account you can add depend on your country.
3

Choose how to get paid

A bank account (Nigeria), mobile money (every other African country), or stablecoin.
4

Enter your details and save

Fill in the details for that account type (see below). Check everything carefully: a wrong number can make a payout fail.

Bank account (Nigeria)

The account name comes from your bank, and you can’t edit it. It must match your verified legal first and last name. If it doesn’t, for example because the account is in someone else’s name, you’ll see the name your bank has and the account can’t be added. Add an account in your own name instead.

Mobile money (every other African country)

The providers you see depend on your country. They include:
  • M-Pesa
  • MTN MoMo
  • Airtel Money
  • Orange Money
  • Wave
  • Moov Money
  • EcoCash
  • Telebirr
  • Mixx by Yas (Tigo Pesa)
  • T-Money
  • Telecel Cash (Vodafone)
  • AT Money (AirtelTigo)
  • Vodafone Cash
If yours isn’t listed, choose Other.

Stablecoin (anywhere in Africa)

Stablecoin payouts are available on request. Choose Stablecoin when you add your payout account and click Request access. You can tell us a bit about your wallet. Our team looks at each request, and we email the organization owner when it’s approved. If we can’t turn it on, the email says why, and you can ask again. Once it’s approved:
Check the network. Coins sent to an address on the wrong network can’t be recovered. We check that the address looks right for the network you chose, but only you can make sure it’s your wallet.
We check every wallet address against sanctions lists, and we can’t pay out to a sanctioned wallet.

Changing your payout account

To switch to a different account or wallet, go back to Finance > Payouts (or Finance > Account) and update your payout account. The same rules apply.
Update your payout account before you request your next payout, not after.
